CAMS Morning Market Brief: October 16, 2026

Nasdaq 100 futures slipped 0.23% at six eleven Eastern as artificial intelligence financing worries stayed in focus.

Good morning.

It is Friday, October 16, 2026.

Nasdaq 100 futures slipped 0.23% at six eleven Eastern as artificial intelligence financing worries stayed in focus.

S and P 500 futures edged up 0.08%, while Dow futures added 0.28%.

The split keeps the pressure concentrated in technology rather than signaling a broad rush for the exits.

That pressure has a credit story behind it.

Reuters reported that CoreWeave's April-issued bonds traded around a 15% yield as investors questioned debt-financed artificial intelligence infrastructure.

Thursday's S and P 500 rose 0.33%, and eight of its 11 sectors finished higher.

Healthcare led with a 1.84% gain, while the Philadelphia semiconductor index fell 0.9%.

The 10-year Treasury yield was near 5.09% before sunrise, keeping financing costs central to the equity story.

WTI crude traded at $97.54 a barrel, and December gold was near $4,200 an ounce.

Reuters said recent attacks on shipping in the Middle East continued to support crude prices, so the small oil dip did not remove the supply risk.

Today's macro checkpoint arrives at nine fifteen Eastern, when the Federal Reserve releases industrial production and capacity utilization.

Evidence of stabilization would be steady yields, firmer semiconductor shares, and continued participation outside technology.

Renewed pressure in artificial intelligence credit, another rise in long yields, or a fresh oil spike would keep the defensive rotation in place.
