Accenture approaches its October 1 fiscal fourth-quarter and full-year update with durable profitability but an uneven demand picture. The prior quarter delivered $18.72 billion of revenue, a 17.0% operating margin, and $3.60 billion of free cash flow. Those measures show resilient economics. The open question is whether activity can broaden beyond the stronger Managed Services business.
The gap between Managed Services and Consulting shows that demand had not yet broadened evenly. Managed Services grew 5% in local currency in fiscal Q3, while Consulting grew 1%. New bookings were $19.32 billion and declined 3% in local currency. Remaining performance obligations were approximately $38 billion at May 31, offering visibility but not certainty because only non-cancelable amounts are included and many client contracts allow flexibility.
The October update will put two questions side by side: whether reported growth remains within the company's published frame and whether the underlying mix improves. No single headline will answer both. Consulting growth and bookings measure demand breadth, while margin indicates whether profitability remains durable as the mix shifts. Free cash flow tests conversion; commentary on remaining performance obligations helps explain how contracted work is moving into revenue.
Workforce utilization also matters after reaching 93%. High utilization supports efficiency but leaves less room for a mismatch in demand or skills. A broader recovery would therefore need to arrive without weakening delivery economics, while continued dependence on Managed Services would leave the improvement narrower.
The 50-session and 200-session averages point in different directions. The shares ended September 23 above their 50-session average but below their 200-session average, describing a recent recovery inside a longer trend that had not fully turned. The October earnings evidence should clarify whether the longer trend has turned; the recent price path alone does not.
