Tiendas 3B enters its next results update with a striking contrast between rapid operating expansion and unsettled reported profitability. Second-quarter revenue reached Ps. 26,037 million, up 38.7% from a year earlier, while same-store sales increased 20.0%. The network added 155 net stores and ended June with 3,624 locations.
Demand strength was accompanied by mixed earnings quality. Gross margin improved to 16.8%, yet reported EBITDA margin declined to 3.7% from 4.5% a year earlier. EBITDA excluding share-based payment showed a 6.1% margin, while share-based payment was Ps. 615 million. The difference between reported and ex-payment results makes compensation expense central to the story.
Cash flow adds another dimension. First-half operating cash flow was Ps. 4,285 million, more than double the prior-year period, but second-quarter building lease payments were Ps. 593 million. Rapid rollout can produce meaningful operating cash while still leaving open questions about investment needs, lease burdens, and the mature economics of newer stores.
The November 2 results and November 3 conference call can clarify whether fast sales growth is translating into stronger reported economics. Useful evidence includes comparable demand, gross margin, reported EBITDA margin, compensation expense, net-loss direction, store openings, and cash conversion after investment and lease payments. Commentary on traffic, ticket, new-store cohorts, and distribution-center use would make the operating picture easier to evaluate.
Market structure raises the sensitivity of that update. TBBB closed at $57.41 on October 27, 3.67% below its 52-week high and 38.17% above its 200-day average. That backdrop places more weight on the composition of the next report, particularly whether growth and reported profitability improve together.
The full Tiendas 3B premium review examines the operating evidence, key uncertainties, and questions the coming update can answer about demand durability, expansion economics, and earnings quality.
