GLD Research Note — Gold Hedge Faces Its Test

CAMS — GLD Research Note August 12, 2026
CAMS — GLD Research Note August 12, 2026

GLD's hedge case improved as weak labor data met energy-driven inflation pressure, but the recent move left little room for a simple momentum reading. The fund gained 7.16% over five sessions and moved about 5% above its 50-day average. It remained below the 200-day average and well below its reported 52-week high.

Official-sector demand is the durable support. Rising real yields and a possible Strait of Hormuz agreement are the near-term tests. The next useful evidence will come from dollar direction, fund flows and whether the rebound survives the inflation-data window.

The full Level 2+ review examines the internal debate, bullion-trust ledger, scenario framework and the evidence that would strengthen or weaken the hedge thesis. Read the gated GLD Deep Coverage Review or join CAMS Premium Research.
