GFL Environmental Inc. reaches its first combined outlook with a solid pre-acquisition operating base and a larger financing burden to explain. In the second quarter of 2026, revenue rose 16.3% to C$1,947.8 million, adjusted EBITDA increased 14.8% to C$591.2 million, and adjusted free cash flow advanced to C$236.7 million from C$137.1 million a year earlier. Core pricing contributed 6.1%.
The context changed on September 1, when GFL completed the SECURE Waste Infrastructure acquisition. The financing package included 75,126,306 new subordinate voting shares, a US$1 billion senior secured term loan, and capacity under the revolving credit facility. Those additions increase the proof required from the combined business: absolute growth must translate into durable cash generation on a per-share basis while leverage remains controlled.
Reported and adjusted results also point in different directions. The quarter carried a C$162.6 million net loss from continuing operations even as adjusted operating measures improved. Adjusted EBITDA margin was 30.4%, compared with 30.7% a year earlier. That gap puts cash conversion, financing costs, and integration demands at the center of the next evidence check.
The July outlook did not include acquisitions completed after July 1, so it does not describe the company that will report after the combination. GFL said it expected to update 2026 guidance when it released third-quarter results. The useful signal will be a clear bridge from the enlarged revenue and earnings base to combined cash generation and the stated objective of year-end net leverage in the mid-3s.
Timing makes the update especially important. Results were scheduled for after the market close on October 28, followed by an October 29 conference call. The release can clarify what SECURE contributes, how transaction financing affects the combined profile, and whether the leverage objective remains intact. A constructive operating update without that bridge would leave the central question unresolved.
