Good morning.

Both official Nasdaq calendars support a regular United States trading session today.

Oil and long rates are still setting the tone. Brent crude is near $106.50 a barrel, up about 1.2%. W T I crude is near $93.60, up a little more than 1%. The United States and Iran are talking separately to mediators, and regional supply risks remain.

Stock futures were mixed and nearly flat at five nineteen Eastern. Dow futures were down about 0.1%. S and P 500 futures were down about 0.1%. Nasdaq 100 futures were nearly unchanged.

Monday's session left a cautious setup. The S and P 500 fell about 0.8%. The Nasdaq Composite fell about 0.9%. The Dow fell about 0.7%. The ten-year Treasury yield index ended at 5.24%.

Defensive groups held up better. Health care and consumer staples finished higher, while communication services, consumer discretionary, and financials led the declines.

NVIDIA moved against the broader semiconductor group. The stock gained about 1.7% on Monday. NVIDIA said its board added $150 billion to the share-repurchase authorization, bringing remaining capacity to $235 billion. That is authorization, not completed buying.

The August job-openings report is due at ten Eastern. The September consumer-confidence reading arrives at the same time.

For the open, the clean test is whether oil and the ten-year yield ease together. If both remain elevated, rate-sensitive shares are likely to stay under pressure. A broader rebound would look healthier if market breadth improves with it.
