CAMS Morning Market Brief: October 14, 2026

U.S. futures split before inflation data as oil rose above $95 after two ships were struck in the Strait of Hormuz.

Good morning.
This is the CAMS Morning Market Brief for Wednesday, October 14, 2026.
U.S. futures split before inflation data as oil rose above $95 after two ships were struck in the Strait of Hormuz.

At six eleven a.m. Eastern, S and P 500 futures were up 0.20%, Dow futures were up 0.41%, and Nasdaq 100 futures were down 0.04%.
Tuesday's cash session barely moved at the index level, with the S and P 500 down 0.02%, the Nasdaq down 0.15%, and the Dow down 0.35%.
Trading was light, yet S and P 500 advancers still outnumbered decliners by 1.1 to 1.
Energy led the sector board while health care lagged, and the Philadelphia semiconductor index fell for a fifth straight session.

West Texas Intermediate crude was $95.27 per barrel, up 1.20%, and Brent was $106.40.
United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations said a container ship and a tanker were hit by unknown projectiles inside the Strait of Hormuz.
No production loss was confirmed from a separate limited fire at a Saudi Aramco administrative building.
The 10-year Treasury yield was about 5.2%, and volatility remained contained near 15.

The next broad test is the September Consumer Price Index at eight thirty a.m. Eastern.
A hotter reading could renew pressure on rate-sensitive shares if yields rise, while softer core inflation could offer relief.
ASML reported record quarterly sales and raised its full-year sales outlook.
Bank of America and Morgan Stanley are also due before the opening bell.

The day's confirmation will come from whether broad-market gains survive the inflation report and whether semiconductor selling begins to stabilize.
