Good morning.

Crude oil rose while stock-index futures split before Monday's opening bell, keeping inflation risk in focus ahead of this week's data.

At six ten Eastern, S and P 500 futures were up 0.08%.

Dow futures were up 0.09%.

Nasdaq 100 futures were down 0.09%.

November West Texas Intermediate crude was $92.66 a barrel, up 0.88%.

December Brent was $105.61 a barrel, up 0.85%.

The energy fund was up 0.54% before the market.

The semiconductor fund was down 0.58%.

Friday's session finished broadly higher.

The Dow gained 0.83%, the Nasdaq Composite rose 0.64%, and the S and P 500 added 0.59%.

Nine of eleven tracked sector funds finished higher, with real estate and health care leading.

The 10-year Treasury yield ended Friday at 5.242%.

Early Monday, the dollar index was 102.375.

The V I X was 15.48.

Gold was near $4,198 an ounce.

Reuters reported that the consumer-price report is due Wednesday, followed by producer prices and retail sales Thursday.

JPMorgan Chase is scheduled to release third-quarter results Tuesday morning, opening a major bank-earnings test.

The first read is mixed: energy is firmer, semiconductors are softer, and the broad futures tape is nearly flat.

A stronger opening would need wider participation, while another crude advance would keep inflation sensitivity in play.
