CAMS Midday Market Check: October 6, 2026

The S and P 500 and Nasdaq touched records late this morning as Treasury yields eased.

Good afternoon.

The S and P 500 and Nasdaq touched records late this morning as Treasury yields eased.

At eleven fifty-one Eastern, the S and P 500 was up 0.86%, the Nasdaq Composite was up 0.84%, and the Dow was up 0.67%.

The latest Russell 2000 quote was up 0.10% at eleven thirty-six Eastern.

The Nasdaq stock screener showed 3,049 advancers against 3,476 decliners, so the index strength did not lift the whole list.

The 10-year Treasury yield was 5.262%, below its 5.311% prior close.

The V I X was about 15.2, down 1.93%, and the dollar index was down 0.36%.

Utilities were up 2.35%, industrials were up 1.16%, and technology was up 0.96%.

Communication services was nearly flat, while the I G V software fund was up 1.57%.

Marvell gained 7.94%.

The move followed its fiscal 2028 revenue forecast of about $20 billion.

Broadcom was up 4.43%, and A M D was up 3.87%.

The B E A said the August trade deficit widened to $105.6 billion as imports increased faster than exports.

West Texas Intermediate crude was near $88.83 a barrel, while gold was near $4,194 an ounce.

The afternoon test is whether the record-level indexes can hold their gains while market breadth catches up.
