Good afternoon.

At eleven forty-nine Eastern, the Nasdaq Composite gained 1.17%.

The S and P 500 gained 0.54%, and the Dow rose 0.29%.

Six of eleven tracked sector funds were higher.

Technology gained 1.69%, and the semiconductor fund rose 1.98%.

The equal-weight S and P fund was up 0.29%, behind the cap-weighted index.

Health care and communication services were among the weaker groups.

Reuters linked the opening advance to results from SpaceX and Super Micro Computer.

Supermicro shares gained 10.53% after the company raised its preliminary quarterly revenue and margin ranges.

The company said those estimates are unaudited, with final results due November 3.

Netflix fell 4.95% after its forecast failed to impress investors.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported third-quarter median weekly earnings of $1,232, up 1.5% from a year earlier.

That trailed a 3.5% rise in consumer prices over the same period.

The E I A reported a 3.1 million barrel draw in commercial crude stocks, while distillate inventories rose.

Even so, WTI crude traded near $97 a barrel, down 1.01%.

The 10-year Treasury yield was near 5.11%, while the V I X fell 3.52%.

The dollar and gold were slightly higher.

Meta and Tesla report after the close, with Texas Instruments and Lam Research also on the calendar.

The afternoon test is whether chip leadership holds while long yields remain steady.

A reversal in semiconductors or a renewed rise in yields would weaken the pattern.
