Monday, October 19, 2026.
Good afternoon.
By eleven forty-nine Eastern, the Nasdaq rose 1.72%, but eight of 11 sector funds were lower.
The S and P 500 added 0.84%, and the Dow gained 0.16%.
Technology rose 2.34%, while the semiconductor fund advanced 3.22%.
Consumer discretionary gained 1.72%.
The equal-weight S and P fund slipped 0.10%, showing that the headline rally was concentrated.
Reuters reported early in the session that most S and P 500 constituents were lower as technology led.
That makes this a rebound in the largest growth names, not a broad market surge.
The 10-year Treasury yield climbed to 5.136% after sitting near 5.08% before sunrise.
The V I X fell to 17.60, down 11.96%.
West Texas Intermediate crude was near $101 a barrel, while Brent was near one hundred eight dollars a barrel.
The National Association of Home Builders said builder confidence fell three points to 29 in October, its lowest reading since June 2012.
The afternoon test is whether equal-weight shares and more sectors join the gains while the ten-year Treasury yield stays close to five point one four percent.
