Thursday, October 15, 2026.
Good afternoon.
By eleven forty-nine Eastern, the Dow was up 0.95%, the S and P 500 rose 0.11%, and the Nasdaq was down 0.36%.
Health care gained 2.69%, while technology lost 1.36% and the semiconductor fund dropped 2.10%.
Seven of eleven tracked sector funds were higher, so the weakness was concentrated rather than market-wide.
The 10-year Treasury yield eased to 5.102%, and the dollar index fell 0.41%.
The V I X was 16.79, little changed on the day.
September producer prices rose 1.3% for the month and 6.3% from a year earlier.
September retail sales increased 0.8% from August and 6.3% from a year earlier.
West Texas Intermediate crude was $97.31 per barrel, up 2.33%, as shipping risks around the Strait of Hormuz stayed in focus.
The afternoon question is whether technology narrows its loss while broader sector participation holds.
