Good evening.

Both official Nasdaq calendars confirm a regular United States trading session today.

Stocks finished higher after a softer September jobs report reduced expectations for a Federal Reserve rate increase this month. The Bureau of Labor Statistics said payrolls rose by 29,000 in September, and unemployment was 4.2%.

The S and P 500 closed at 7,722.72, up 0.73%. The Nasdaq Composite gained about 1.2% to about 27,191, while the Dow rose 0.49% to 51,176.96. The latest Russell 2000 reading showed a gain of 0.84%.

Participation was positive. Reuters reported that advancers outnumbered decliners on both the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq in its afternoon update. Cboe reported about 14.2 billion consolidated shares through three fifty-one Eastern, with its figures delayed by at least 20 minutes.

Consumer discretionary and technology led the major sector funds, while health care was nearly flat. Semiconductors stood out, with S M H up 2.07% and Nvidia up 1.34%.

Treasury yields fell after the jobs report, then reversed higher. The 10-year yield finished near 5.28%, above its prior close, while the 2-year yield was near 4.84%.

Volatility eased as stocks rose. The V I X fell 6.41% to 15.34, and the dollar index slipped 0.19% to 101.91.

November West Texas Intermediate crude finished near $91.54 a barrel, down 1.43%. December Brent was near $102.89, up 0.57%, while December gold was near $4,176.40, down 0.62%.

Nike slid after Reuters reported a steep annual revenue decline forecast tied to China weakness, along with job cuts and a global reorganization. Reuters also said Western Digital and Seagate fell after a report that Toshiba plans to double hard-disk production capacity for artificial-intelligence data centers.

CAMS sentinels added watch items around artificial-intelligence financing, chip export controls, and consumer cost pressure. Those alerts remain monitoring signals, not public recommendations.

No newly confirmed physical or digital supply-chain disruption met the CAMS verification standard during the closing screen.

The closing message is mixed. Softer hiring helped stocks, but the late rebound in yields kept financial conditions tight.
