AVGO Research Note — AI Demand Meets a Timing Test

CAMS AVGO research note for July 17, 2026

Broadcom's structural AI case remains intact, but the tape is demanding better timing. The July 17 research found an unusual combination of strong earnings growth, a large contracted backlog, and a valuation that remains restrained relative to that growth. Against that, technology-sector rotation and the approaching Google earnings update create a near-term test for demand expectations.

The thesis depends on contracted AI revenue converting into sustained growth. The trigger is confirmation that hyperscaler capital spending remains firm while AVGO's technical structure stabilizes. The invalidation is a material cut to AI infrastructure spending or guidance that weakens the backlog-conversion case.
