Pharmaceutical Sector is On Fire

U.S. futures are suggesting a positive opening this morning. Today is the first day this week in which all global markets open after the Easter holiday. U.S. markets have found its footing last week after U.S. economic data showed signs of improving with the S&P putting its for 5 day winning streak since October.

 

pharmaceutical This morning’s buzz is clearly in the pharmaceutical sector with reports that Allergan (AGN, quote) is the target of possible hustle takeover after Valeant Pharmaceuticals (VRX, quote) floated an offer earlier.

It’s important to note that Pershing Square Capital Management LP has in the past rejected merger deal between the two companies for more than a year now.

The pharmaceutical news does not stop with AGN and VRX but extents to Pfizer (PFE, quote) this morning as word on the street that U.K Pharmaceutical Company Astrazeneca (AZN, quote) will resubmit a bid for PFE after its 60 billion euro bid was rejected.
