Futures Rise After Australian Employment, ECB Report U.S. equity futures traded slightly higher in early pre-market trade following stronger than expected Australian employment data and also dovish comments from the ECB in its Monthly Bulletin. The ECB sees the eurozone economy stabilizing in 2013 with growth returning this year and sees inflation remaining tepid with downside risks remaining.

Welcome to today’s Morning Coffee Break –despite losses last week U.S. markets are firmly in the green as market participants head into the last week of September and the final week of the 3rd quarter. Markets are in the green as well for the 3rd quarter putting markets on target to be the best year since 2009.

Well this week kicks off earnings season right in the middle of the euro zone storm and ahead Wednesday’s FOMC statement. 

After Market Close

The market saw up and down swings.  Financials lead the way in early trade through the afternoon.  Market took a turn when news reports quoted former Greece Prime Minister Lucas Papademos as saying that preparations for the country’s exit from the euro zone are being considered, sending the euro and markets lower.

U.S. Stock Market

Traders find themselves back in a risk on scenario across the board after the G8 statement indicated the euro zone policy makers would like to keep Greece in the family.
